How to Block an Afghan Infographic

As you work those final stitches on your crochet blanket pattern (or even a crochet granny square pattern), you might be wondering how to finish off your project. Depending on how consistent your gauge has been or if you made a few mistakes somewhere and accidentally missed a row-ending or -beginning stitch, your crochet afghan could use some reshaping. But how do you make a finished crochet afghan lie the way you want it to once you're done crocheting? To reshape your afghan or to fix any spots where edges or corners might have started curling in a little bit, you block your afghan.
There are actually three different ways to block an afghan, depending on the finished size of the blanket and the type of fiber used in your yarn. Each blocking method is really simple to do, we promise, but make sure you always check the care label on your yarn to make sure you don't do anything the yarn can't handle.
