Note From the Editor:
This crochet baby blanket is one of the cutest I think I've ever seen. When I saw the name, it immediately reminded me of my dad. When I was a little girl and had trouble sleeping at night, I would always wake my dad up to come into my room. Each and every time, he'd sing "You Are My Sunshine" until I fell asleep. To this day, he still calls me "sunshine" sometimes.
The original version of the song "You Are My Sunshine" was recorded by Jimmie Davis and Charles Mitchell in 1939. Davis, a country singer, is now credited with bringing country music to the mainstream. The song has all but lost its original identity but lives on as one of the most popular songs in history. It was even added to the National Recording Registry at the Library of Congress in 2013 for preservation. It has been covered by a variety of recording artists from Aretha Franklin to Johnny Cash.
