FINISHING
Arrange squares as shown in Assembly Diagram. Hold neighboring squares with RS together, with larger hook and A, working through both thicknesses and inserting hook in outer loops only, sl st down the columns (vertically, joining eight squares to neighboring eight squares) to join squares. When all columns have been joined, use larger hook and D to join across the rows in same manner. Fasten off and weave in ends.
Edging
With WS facing and smaller hook, join B with sl st in any outer corner ch-1 sp.
Round 1: Ch 2 (counts as first hdc), hdc in same ch-1 sp as join, {*hdc in next 4 sts, [BPdc around next st, hdc in next 2 sts] 9 times, hdc in next st, ** hdc2tog in next 2 inner corner ch-1 sps; repeat from * across to next outer corner ch-1 sp, end at **, (2 hdc, ch 1, 2 hdc) in next outer corner ch-1 sp} 3 times; repeat from * to ** once more, 2 hdc in first ch-1 sp, ch 1; join with sl st in top of beginning ch.
