Honeydew Rectangle Square
This crochet granny square is as sweet as can be. Try the Honeydew Rectangle Square to sweeten your next crochet project. It's amazing how different a crocheted rectangle can be when making an afghan. Imagine all of the different designs you can create just by using rectangles instead of squares.

I just wish I'd have time to make them all. I am looking for a way to make make a chain or something else that will be stretchy for big afghan... one that will make the bottom of the piece as stretchy as the top. At this point, the solution I have found is to make the base chain in a contrasting color and at the end of the project pick up the stitches mounted on that contrasting chain and this is kind of tedious. Is there an easier way of doing this : Base of piece as stretchy as top.

I usually make the beginning chain with a larger size hook than the pattern calls for and then continue the pattern in the regular way. Ex: If the pattern calls for using an H hook, make the starting chain with an I or J hook, then use H hook for pattern. Hope this helps.
