For knitting cowgirl, there is a pattern from the '70's for a sleeveless tennis vest that involves cables. I made it back then for my tennis-playing boyfriend in just a weekend. It's a great introduction to tunisian crochet and cables. Reply if you'd like me to track down the pattern. I've found it in a Women's Day, I believe, and in a McCall's compilation of patterns from that era (I made the vest in 1974).
