This Amore Tiles blanket makes us think of Italy and Greece, but it will be right at home at your house too. The free easy afghan crochet pattern is written for beginners, so what are you waiting for?

Intermediate

Crochet HookJ/10 or 6 mm hook

Yarn Weight(4) Medium Weight/Worsted Weight and Aran (16-20 stitches to 4 inches)

Throw measures approximately 43" x 60".
 

Materials:

TLC® "Amore™", Art. E515 (6 ounce solid/4.5 ounce multicolor skeins):

  • 2 Ounces No. 3823 Lake Blue CA
  • 4 ounces No. 3625 Celery CB
  • 25 ounces No. 3103 Vanilla CC

Crochet Hook: 6mm [US J-10].
Yarn needle.

GAUGE: Square = 6 ½" x 6 ½"; 8 ½" across the diagonal. CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size hook to obtain the gauge.

SQUARE A (Make 24): With CA, ch 4; join with a sl st in first ch to form a ring.
Rnd 1: Ch 1, 8 sc in ring; join with a sl st to first sc.
Rnd 2: Ch 2; [yo and draw up a lp] 3 times all in first SC, yo and draw yarn through all 7 lps on hook - beg puff st made; ch 3; * [yo and draw up a lp] 4 times all in next sc, yo and draw yarn through all 9 lps on hook - puff st made; ch 3; rep from * around; join with a sl st in top of beg puff st - 8 puff sts. Fasten off.
Rnd 3: With right side facing, attach CB in any ch-3 sp; ch 1, 3 sc in sp, * (3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc) all in next sp **, 3 sc in next sp; rep from * around, end at **; join with a sl st to first sc.
Rnd 4: Ch 1, sc in same st as joining, * sc in each st to corner sp, (2 sc, ch 2, 2 sc) all in sp; rep from * to last 3 dc, sc in last 3 dc; join to first sc. Fasten off.
Rnd 5: With right side facing, attach CC in same st as joining; † ch 3, dc in next 2 sc, * hdc in next 3 sc, sc in next 2 sc, (sc, ch 2, sc) all in sp, sc in next 2 sc, hdc in next 3 sc **, dc in next 3 sc; rep from * around, end at **; join to top of ch-3.
Rnd 6: Ch 3, * dc in each st to corner sp, (2 dc, ch 3, 2 dc) all in sp; rep from * to last 6 sts; dc in last 6 sts; join. Fasten off. Weave in ends.

SQUARE B (Make 31):

Rnds 1 and 2: With CC, work same as Square A EXCEPT DO NOT fasten off at end of Rnd 2.
Rnd 3: Ch 1, * 3 sc in next sp, (3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc) all in next sp; rep from * around; join with a sl st to first sc.
Rnd 4: Work same as Square A Rnd 4 EXCEPT DO NOT fasten off at end of rnd.
Rnd 5: Work same as Square A Rnd 5 beginning at †.
Rnd 6: Work same as Square A Rnd 6.

FINISHING: Sew squares together following diagram. With right side facing, attach CC in any st; ch 1, work 1 rnd sc evenly around outer edge, increase and decrease as necessary to keep work flat; join to first sc. Fasten off. Weave in ends.

To Elrine, I have found that if you will type in the stitch you need help with into www.youtube.com you can get any instruction you need. It is video and verbal instruction and is just like having an expert right next to you. This has been most helpful to me. Good Luck!

When I saw that this pattern was for beginners, I was so excited! Then I found that it makes use of the puff stitch, and I couldn't follow the instructions at all - what a disappointment! Please tell me that you have REAL beginner patterns somewhere, so that I CAN make an afghan!
