Reversible Color Crochet features 28 beautiful blocks and 10 crochet afghans. The unique thing about the patterns inside this book is that author and designer Laurina Reddig created an award-winning form of crochet that creates clear images that look exactly the same on both sides. Inside this 140-page book, she presents this new method along with 28 reversible squares suitable for afghans or other items as well as 10 projects that use them.
Laurinda explains the basics of her techniques, introducing the reader to working with 2, 3, 4, and as many as 7 different colors at a time, in half-double and double crochet. Using increases, decreases, and late color changes to create smoother lines, she shows the reader how to create graphic colorwork squares featuring stripes, chevrons, and a variety of quilt-inspired patterns in multiple colors.
Once she covers the fundamentals, Laurinda moves into more pictorial squares. These include garden and space themed images suitable for children’s projects. 10 afghan projects will follow, with directions for joining, edging, and any additional stitch patterns used. Several sidebars sprinkled throughout the Projects chapter will provide additional ideas for arranging squares to inspire readers further.
