Coming Up Roses Square
"I was inspired to design this square by childhood memories from summers spent at my maternal grandmother’s house. Pink roses used to grow on the fence between her back yard and her neighbors’s yard. I think the roses actually belonged to the neighbors, but sharing didn’t seem to be a problem. This center of this square is a variation on the Irish Rose motif. The last round is perfect for the join-as-you-go method of joining crochet squares. Skills Used Basic crochet stitches: chain, double crochet, half double crochet, single crochet, slip stitch, treble (triple) crochet Working in rounds, increasing, skipping stitches, joining new colors, crocheting in chain spaces Crocheting in the back loop Skill Level Easy Finished Size 6” (15 cm) square. Materials Red Heart With Love yarn (100% acrylic, 7 oz/198 g/370 yd/338 m) – 1 skein each in 1704 Bubble Gum (CA) and 1101 Eggshell (CB), or approximately 16 yd (14.5 m) in CA and 34 yd (31 m) in CB in any medium weight yarn. I have to admit that it's been quite awhile since I've done ANY kind of Granny Square. It is the first thing I was taught and I did so many of them I think I burnt myself out on them. This one is so sweet you can almost smell the rose! I think it's time to dust off my weariness of granny squares and give this one a try. After all I love my Grannys Zelphia, Daisy, Opal and Rheta!

I'm touched how the crocheter of this Coming Up Roses Square connected this project to a memory of her grandma. We put so much importance and value and we love our grannies so much that I pay through this project I wanna pay tribute to all our grandmothers. Love you grandma. This is so lovely.
