Basic Rectangle Granny
This crochet pattern is perfect for beginners. Start with one Basic Rectangle Granny square and soon enough you'll have a granny square afghan! All you have to do is be able to work up shell stitches to get one of these granny square patterns going.
We love the simplicity of the square and think that it would make an adorable crochet baby blanket in the pink color in the example. When you begin one of these crochet squares, you may not be able to stop until you have a full afghan.
Crochet HookH/8 or 5 mm hook
Yarn Weight(4) Medium Weight/Worsted Weight and Aran (16-20 stitches to 4 inches)
