Rose Afghan
The Rose Afghan is one of the most beautiful vintage crochet patterns we've ever seen. Crocheted in the afghan stitch, this basic crochet afghan comes to life when you embroider the rose designs on the crochet panels. Add tassels to complete the look and you'll have a cottage style crochet afghan for your home.

It has been some time since I have seen a pattern using the afghan stitch. This rose afghan is a beautiful vintage style. If you elect to crochet it, it will be a great decor piece or even better a very special gift for a very special loved one. My favorite rose color is yellow but this pink is really very pretty.

When browsing patterns, sometimes I get a notion in my head that I can do that. Not crochet the pattern but make one. I have a symbol that my husband is really wanting me to cross stitch for him. Right now, I just do not feel the cross stitch bug but if I would cross stitch on a afghan stitch, I may be so inclined. Without him even knowing, I think I just came up with my December birthday gift for me. Thanks for the inspiration of this afghan stitch pattern.

Oh so lovely. This afghan is done making the whole blanket first then the flowers are embroidered when the blanket has been completely done. Here's the link to the pattern http//www.freevintagecrochet.com/afghan-patterns/c == olumbia-minerva-742/rose-afghan

My grandma made this as a wedding gift for me 38 years ago. I still have it and it is still as beautiful as the day she gave it to me. I have it laying over the back of my couch ready to wrap up in on a cold day.

To add... I'd probably make it with a black background instead of white. Reminds me of the old cabbage rose carpets I remember seeing as a very young girl.

I think it would look nice with different colored roses. Some pink, some red, some blue, some yellow, and so on. If I were making for my 6 y/o grand daughter, I'd use bright crayon-y colors.

I made this same afghan many years ago for my mom. When she passed away, I gave it to a good friend of mine. It is a great pattern, easy to make. I used yellows for the roses because my mom lived in TX....we had all heard of "The Yellow Rose of Texas". I have also made other afghans from the same book...was equally as happy with all of them! Still have the book in my collection.

This is a beautiful old pattern - I made this afghan for my mother for Christmas 1977. She had it on the foot of her bed until she died in 2004. Now I have the rose afghan and will pass it on to one of my daughters. Maybe now that I have the pattern again, I'll make another one for the other daughter!

I have decided to crochet this with purple/lilac flowers then knit it incorporating the rose charts into the knitting using fair Isle or intarsis. Converting the crochet pattern as I go.
